Foundation for His Ministry
Foundation for His Ministry (FFHM) is a Christian charitable ministry that has served the poorest of the poor in Mexico for over 40 years by providing homes for needy children and other outreach services to people bound in poverty. They are a non-profit, non-denominational organization with a volunteer missionary staff of over 150 and a fully volunteer board. http://www.ffhm.org
There are two immediate needs:
The warehouse, which is right around the corner from 'shoreline’s offices on Calle Recodo, needs help sorting and organizing. They could probably use three or four people a few hours a week. They could really use someone to take charge and lead the effort.
Most of the food for the mission is purchased in the US and driven into Mexico. It takes about three large pickup loads a week to supply the mission. The mission feeds about three hundred orphans, workers and locals per meal. The food is crossed at Otay Mesa, clears Mexican Customs, the Aduana, and then gets dropped at the mission’s college house and loaded into a larger truck for transport to the mission. Each pickup load requires about 6-7 hours start to finish. The mission supplies the pick up and gas, but is in need of trained drivers.
If you have any questions about the ministry, please contact John Alvarez at (949) 369-5520 or call FFHM
Safe Families for Children When a crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and friends for support. But for some families, there is no safety net. Often, a straightforward problem such as postpartum depression or unemployment can be debilitating. Children in these situations often suffer neglect or abuse; some eventually are removed from their homes and placed in state custody. But now, thanks to an exciting program offered through Olive Crest, parents experiencing a temporary crisis can arrange for their children to stay with a Christian family while they address the issues that led to their situation. Safe Families is becoming a national model for communities that want to expand their safety net for at-risk children.
Please let us know how you'd like to help! Just call the church office at (949) 369-7283. Ways to help:
Provide a safe, loving, temporary home for an at-risk child
Lend a hand to a host family by preparing a meal, providing transportation, babysitting, or homework help
Offer services to a crisis family (doctors, mechanics, handymen, hair stylists, etc.)
Donate, locate, or organize needed items (cribs, strollers, diapers, etc.)
Share God-given wisdom as a life coach or mentor to a crisis parent
Commit to regular prayer on behalf of the crisis and host families

Canning Hunger :: Boxes of Love www.canninghunger.org
"Boxes of Love" is an opportunity for you to help the hungry and the homeless, the widows and the orphans, the lost and forgotten. Your gift of a complete meal for a family of 6-8 people, wrapped up in a simple cardboard box, will provide a ray of hope and the warm feeling of being loved, something they may have almost forgotten. Along with food items, we also include an English/Spanish Bible, kids coloring book, and The Four Spiritual Laws, and every box of love is hand delivered by someone who has been trained to share the Gospel. Over the years, an average of one out of every three boxes we deliver has resulted in a first time or significant decision for Jesus Christ. If you, your small group, or your family would like to commit to fill a few boxes, Canning Hunger will give you everything you need...for free! Just contact them at (714) 990-9234 or rocky@boxoflove.org

Mom's Night Out Second Wednesday of each month
Host a night out for mothers-to-be residing at a local crisis pregnancy shelter. These are young girls in need of women to offer guidance, support and love. It is so simple...grab a few friends, pick the girls up at 6pm - take them to dinner - home by 9pm. As simple as it seems this can be a life-changing event for both the girls and the women. Reserve your month early - fills up quickly. Contact Kathy Sutton @ (949) 498-6949 or theredrope@live.com.
Food & Fellowship Times and dates TBA
This outreach is great for small groups or just groups of girlfriends. Feast with women and children at a local shelter. The women at this shelter are actively devoting their lives to Jesus Christ through intense Bible study, worship and prayer. In fact, this is all they do for the first two months of their stay - WE CAN HELP! Again, this is very simple. Prepare a meal with some friends, bring it to the shelter in SJC and break bread together. God works in mysterious ways at these gatherings so be prepared to be amazed. We would appreciate an email from those interested so we can see how often to book this. Contact Kathy Sutton @ (949) 498-6949 or theredrope@live.com.

Nuru International :: Ending Extreme Poverty Together, One Community at a Time http://www.nuruinternational.org
The World Bank defines extreme poverty as any individual living on less than $1 a day. But that is only an economic understanding of the term. In order to better understand what extreme poverty feels, smells, and sounds like, imagine the look on a mother’s face as she decides which of her starving children will not eat that day. Imagine the hot sun, pouring sweat, blistered feet and aching back of an 8-year-old girl walking one hour to fetch water. She fills up her 5-gallon jug with water that might not even be clean, heaves it to her head, turns, and walks the hour back home. Imagine lying on the dirt floor of a mud hut at night, dreaming of attending primary school, learning to read, or having a future other than being a 12-year old bride married to a middle-aged man. Imagine running your fingers over your son’s chest as he lies gasping in bed from tuberculosis compounded by HIV/AIDS. You gave him the disease, but your husband spread it to you, and now he has died. Extreme poverty isn't necessary. Nuru is fighting to see an end to extreme poverty in our lifetimes. Thankfully we’re not in this fight alone. Thousands of humanitarian organizations, multi-lateral institutions, Fortune 500 companies and impassioned individuals are working alongside us to end extreme poverty. We can end extreme poverty together, one community at a time.
